Hidden histories of a million wartime women Kickstarter

Thought to be the world’s first charitable Kickstarter project, the Hidden histories of a million wartime women project aimed to digitize the diaries of women volunteering during the Second World War. The diaries, whose significance is recognised on the UNESCO Memory of the World register, were previously held in paper form in the archives of UK registered charity Royal Voluntary Service, where they were at risk of damage and decay. The aim was to save them in their current state and make them available for the World to see.

With an ambitious target of £25,000, I contributed my digital expertise which saw the project fully funded in 27 days; three days ahead of the final deadline. The project also attracted offline donations from coverage about the project.
